This is where I'm kind of stuck: I'm not sure which I should go for. No luck with any special weapons yet.Īt this point, I'm looking ahead to the next ship upgrade at level 20, which should be Destroyers. I have a bit over 12 million in the bank, as well as having a number of weapons in place for any ship upgrade - Warlock III, Ripper III, Guass, and Corona, as well as making my way toward getting a set of Isis III and Blazar. Kind of miss the cloaking, but so far it doesn't seem like a huge loss.) I'm also at roughly 1900 reputation or so, just became allied with TriACorp and a couple others. I'm currently level 15 and flying an Abeja (used the Wolverine from level 5 to 10. Going forward, I decided to switch focus and capture pirate ships instead, playing a 'lawful' mercenary of sorts and only accepting missions that gave positive reputation. Capping one ship was the equivalent of probably spending an hour running goods back and forth between stations. Thankfully, I chose to start as an Engineer as well, which helped a bit.
I started with the Pegasus because I had no idea what any of the differences were beyond their look (that starting screen didn't seem to offer any information or stats about any of the ships) and this made it slightly difficult to capture any ships. I discovered very quickly that trading and mining, while reliable and safe, is extremely slow for income.
I have my issues with it (especially since I find myself comparing it to X3 often) but I'm keeping an open mind for now and pushing ahead to see how it feels beyond the first 15 minutes of game time. Making my way through my first playthrough of this game in freeroam.
